Home Information Packs (HIPS)

Since May 2010 the Government has scrapped the need for full Home Information Packs (HIPS) that had been required since 2007 for every home placed on to the housing market.

The only requirement now to market your property is to have an Energy Performance Certificate(EPC), which gives homeowners, landlords, tenants and buyers information on the energy efficiency of the property in question. It gives the building a standard energy and carbon emission efficiency grade from 'A' to 'G', where 'A' is the most efficient and G is the least efficient. It also gives advice on how to cut CO2 emissions and fuel bills.

The good news for everyone in the housing market is that putting your property on the market is no longer as cost prohibitive as when a HIP was required.
